Your Choices for Birth
Why write a birth plan?
|
 |
 |
|
 |
| A birth plan helps you settle on what's
important to you for your birth, and then helps you take the steps to
make your plans a reality. A birth plan can also help you prepare for
when things don't go to plan, so you
remain confident and in control no matter what situation arises. |
Writing a birth plan works for you in several ways.
It gives you and your partner the
chance to talk things over so you understand each others' expectations
and communicates your preferences with your
caregivers.
|
| Meeting face-to-face with an experienced labour
supporter (doula) can help you to sort out all of this. ParentLink doulas attend
births regularly in Singapore hospitals, so you'll
draw on the expertise of professionals who know
local routines and policies,
and can even help you get things that aren't
routine! The ParentLink Guide to having a baby in
Singapore provides you with a checklist that you can refer to. During
a birth plan consultation, you
will: |
-
become familiar with the choices available to you and the pros and
cons of each
-
identify the issues that are most important to you
-
determine whether your preferences are compatible with your doctor's
practice
-
word your birth plan in the most effective way
