| Wondering what HypnoBirthing®
is all about? Frequently Asked Questions addresses some of the more
common concerns about HypnoBirthing®. |
What is hypnosis?
Hearing the word hypnosis may conjure up thoughts of
"Look into my eyes, look into my eyes." No, you will not bark like a
puppy or waddle like a duck. You will only attempt to wag your
tailfeather if you really want to! Hypnosis is a technique that allows
you to enter the subconscious mind through a deep state of relaxation.
We enter hypnotic states every day - think about how easy it is to
daydream and drift away for a few moments. This is hypnosis. Using
hypnosis enables you to achieve a deeper level of relaxation while
remaining aware of everything around you and in control.

 |
Will I be asleep? Is it safe?
While using hypnosis you will be fully awake and
conscious. You will be aware of everything around you and be fully
capable of having conversations with others. Hypnosis is completely safe
and you can choose when to move out of self-hypnosis at any time.
|
 |
Will I remember everything?
Self hypnosis will not eliminate or alter any
memories. It will help you to be more relaxed and in control.
The classes provide you
with an altered sense of awareness, concentration and perception,
providing the perfect mental environment for childbirth.
|
 |
Will my labour be painfree?
HypnoBirthing®
does not guarantee that you will a painfree labour - there is no method,
or even drug, that can achieve this! Using hypnosis for childbirth will
help you to feel more relaxed and in control, focusing on welcoming each
surge as a step closer to welcoming your baby into your arms.
|
 |
Is my partner involved in HypnoBirthing®
classes?
If your partner is able to attend classes they will
be included in all the activities and learning. He will be able to
discover the most effective ways to support you, as well as learning
techniques for helping him to relax and enjoy the experience.
|
 |
Can HypnoBirthing®
help me if I am planning an epidural?
Yes, it can. Self hypnosis is beneficial for all
types of birth, regardless of whether or not you are choosing pain
relief, or having a vaginal or caesarean birth. The techniques you will
learn in classes will enable you to discover ways of relaxing and
ensuring a calm environment, all leading towards a positive and
empowering experience.
