Pregnancy is an emotional roller-coaster for both
parties. And of the two people involved, the woman is significantly
better equipped to deal with it. Yet who gets all the help? Of the
multitude of books already available on the subjects of pregnancy and
childbirth, at least 98 percent are written both by women and
for women.
"Historically, men have brought to pregnancy about as
much as Stevie Wonder adds to archery," said Simon Morse, author of the
new book The Pregnant Guy, which seeks to redress the imbalance.
"Men are now expected — and want — to be
involved as much as possible. It’s just they don’t have the first idea
what that entails."
Morse’s book is a humorous look at pregnancy from a
man’s perspective that aims to provide a road-map for the half of the
species that has trouble asking directions. It will help deal with a few
of the hurdles his fellow man is likely to face:
-
How to answer the inevitable "Am I
getting fat?" question.
-
How to survive ante-natal classes and
get a passing grade.
-
How to accept that absolutely
everything is actually your fault.
The Pregnant Guy is now available at
